□ Measurement of Thermal Environment in Urban Areas and its Prediction by
 CFD Simulation

Purposes of This Study
The energy consumed in cities is ultimately transformed into heat and discharged toward urban atmosphere. This is considered to be a major cause for heat island phenomenon.
  Furthermore the cooling load of buildings increases due to the heat island effect and forms a vicious occurs. Based on the measurement and simulation analysis of this phenomenon, investigation of city and district planning which can mitigate the heat island is undertaken.

Results of This Study
With the progress of urbanization, the ground covering change into non-permeable materials and the degree of human activities, energy consumption and heat discharge increases. Because of these effects the urban air temperatures are gradually increasing and the effective measures to mitigate this problem must be taken as soon as possible.
  In order to improve the thermal environment in urban areas, we focus on studying artificially generated heat and evaporation effects by green, which have much influence on urban thermal environment. The effects on the urban thermal environment formed by buildings and streets allocations were measured and simulated by using CFD to investigate quantitatively.
  Based on these results we studied how to modify urban planning.
  By incorporating dynamic heat conduction of building walls and ground into CFD analysis, prediction of the distribution of air temperatures, humidity and velocities and the heat transferred to the sky at the scale of district block can be made.
